A group called Honor Flight Historic Triangle Virginia is organizing free tips for World War II veterans to the World War II memorial in Washington DC on Oct. 16.
You have to apply to participate, and they accept participants on a first-come, first-served basis, but it's an amazing service. They'll pair the veteran with a volunteer companion and access to paramedics, plus free transportation to DC from departure points in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.
