Loch Ness Monster Found!
And they said it couldn't be found...
But the Loch Ness Monster has been found...in Virginia. (Sort of.)
For 30 years, the Loch Ness Monster (LNM) at Busch Gardens Williamsburg has brought thrills and chills to hundreds of thousands of riders.
Also nicknamed "Nessie," like the elusive Scottish sea serpent, the ride shoots passengers over 3,000 feet of track that loops in the air, through a dark, spooky cave, and over water.
Built in 1978, LNM is the world's first and only interlocking, double-looping steel roller coaster. In 30 years, the coaster's trains have cruised a distance equal to 150 trips around the world.
Here are some facts:
- Minimum height to ride: 48 inches
- Maximum speed: 60 mph
- Themeparkinsider.com rating: 8 out of 10
- Coaster fans usually rate LNM among their top 5 coasters at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Don't miss these tips!
- LNM generally has the shortest line, so it's good any time of day*
- Sit in the back for more "air" time.
*It's usually best to visit the major coasters in this order: Griffon, Darkastle, Big Bad Wolf, Alpengeist.
