June 3, 2008 14:19 - Virginia Shakespeare Festival Kicks Off Season with "Taming of the Shrew"

Ready for romance, comedy, and mayhem? The Virginia Shakespeare Festival in Williamsburg will kick off its 30th season June 25 with William Shakespeare's comic masterpiece, "The Taming of the Shrew." The play will run through July 6.

The season will also feature Shakespeare's tragic "Othello" and a non-Shakespeare but highly Monty Python-esque "The Complete History America Abridged." Subscriptions are $51 for all three plays. Single tickets are $23 for adults and $12 for students.

Dominator, Kings Dominion's newest ride and the world's longest floorless coaster, is now open. The park's 14th roller coaster, Dominator boasts over two minutes of flips, inversions, drops, and pumping adrenaline. It joins 13 other top coasters, including Volcano, Flight of Fear, Anaconda, and the Rebel Yell.

Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation is offering two free vacation guides to help visitors enjoy the state's beautiful outdoors.

The 24-page Virginia State Parks Guide and the Virginia State Parks 2008 Outdoor Adventures Guide and Calendar provide information on camping, fishing, hiking, arts and crafts festivals, and more. Guides can be picked up at state Welcome Centers, libraries, state parks or by calling 1-800-933-PARK.
