April 2, 2008 17:33 - Avoiding Identity Theft On Vacation

Being a victim of identity theft is a sure way to ruin your hard-won vacation. Unfortunately, it's an increasing problem for travelers. Visitors are at greater risk of identity theft thanks to pickpockets, hotel room thefts, and store clerks making copies of their credit cards.

However, according to Identitytheftfixes.com, there are steps you can take to limit your risk of identity theft. These include using travelers checks instead of cash, limiting the number of credit cards you carry with you in case your wallet is stolen, and using the safe in your hotel room.

For more ideas on how to protect yourself from identity theft, click here. For other travel tips--including traveling with kids and how to get through airport security faster--and hotel deals, discount tickets, and attraction reviews for Virginia, go to Virginia Beach Family Fun.

No cheap family vacation is complete without a visit to a museum. Discount tickets are great, but how'd you like to visit a local museum and "get paid" to visit others?

You can. Certain museum memberships reward you by allowing you to visit similar participating museums around the world for FREE. By doing so, you can easily save hundreds of dollars a year. (Last year, we saved over $200! You could save even more--it just depends on how much you travel and how many museums you visit.)

There are two museum membership programs:

- ASTC (Association of Science - Technology Centers)
- ACM Reciprocal Program (Association of Children's Museums)

To find out exactly how much you can save, and how the ASTC and ACM programs work, go to
